Coffee Break
The Swedes call it fika, we call it Coffee Break. It’s a folded aluminium tray that mandates a chill-out that lasts exactly the amount of time it takes to have a coffee and one digestive biscuit. The precision folds mean the bottom of the mug and the crumby edge of the biscuit are suspended just off the surface of the table, as though they are floating.
A tray means you are presented something, which in turn feels like a little present. It was designed and manufactured as a central object in our LDF 2024 project Cafe Tolerance. Over the course of the week we served more coffees from these trays than we could count, all the while solely sustained by a surprising amount of biscuits.
